If you’re anything like me, any flower you put in a pot winds up shriveled and dying. I just don’t have a green thumb. Fortunately, there are some great options for people who don’t have the time or expertise to care for flowers.
If you want low-maintenance, try out these eight flowers that are simple to maintain and should work in your garden. With these flowers, you can still have a great garden without a lot of work.
8. Geraniums
A classic summer flower. Unfortunately, this does require a little dead-heading of old blooms, but it’s minimal work for a great-looking plant.
7. Sweet Potato Vine
A great complement to add to a flower box. The vines grow very quickly and provide a cool falling effect in flower boxes.
6. Wave Petunias
These just keep blooming and blooming with an abundance of color. Available in a variety of eye-popping colors. While they require a bit of dead-heading, the constant color is worth it.

5. Angelonia
A great self-cleaning flower. The dead foliage dries up and pretty much disappears. Comes in a variety of great colors.
4. New Guinea Impatiens
A great plant for the sun that comes in a variety of colors. Again, no dead-heading required.

A great cascading plant that is self-cleaning and deer-resistant. It comes in multiple gorgeous colors and can survive in full sun or partial shade.
1. Lantana
These are self-cleaning plants (no deadheading needed, in most cases!) that love the sun. They provide multiple colors and are deer-resistant. They grow best on hot days, so don’t be surprised if they take some time to get growing. In frost-free climates they can grow as perennials but are annuals in colder regions.
