5-Minute Fudge For When Your Sweet Tooth Is Calling

This Is Pretty Amazing!!

When it comes to sweet treats, fudge is number one at our house. It doesn’t really matter what type of fudge I’m making, the kids will devour it as if it was the last piece of food on Earth. Usually I try a new recipe almost every month, and if it’s a good one, it is stored in my secret stash of dessert recipes.
Last week I made this awesome-looking fudge wreath recipe. I believe this was originally a holiday recipe, but who cares? It’s still super delicious! If you think making a fudge wreath with decorations is a bit too Christmassy for the occasion, then just make this recipe and chill the fudge on a simple baking sheet instead. Or use those tiny candy tins – they would make a super cute presentation!

I wish I could have kept this wreath as a decoration for a little bit longer but it was gone in just a few minutes… Maybe I should make two next time, so that at least the other one would survive until the next day. Yeah, right!

I guess you could make all kinds of shapes from this super easy fudge and use candy to decorate it. I thought the wreath looked absolutely beautiful and fun.

Those little candy tins would be great, though, not just for presentation but for another important reason, as well. It only takes about 5 minutes to make this recipe, but if you’re making a wreath you’ll have to wait at least 30 minutes for it to set in the refrigerator. Use the candy tins instead, and put the fudge in the freezer – it’ll be done in about 5-10 minutes!

Ingredients

1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (save the can)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped (plus more for decoration)
1⁄2 cup raisins or 1⁄2 cup dried currant
candied red cherries
candied green cherries, to decorate top (or M&M’s, nuts or candy cane crush)

Instructions:

Butter an 8-inch round cake pan with softened butter.

Pour the chocolate and butterscotch chips, condensed milk and vanilla into a medium saucepan. Put the pan on the stove and turn the heat to low.

Cover the empty condensed milk can with plastic wrap and put it in the center of the round cake pan.

Stir the chips and milk until they melt together, about 3 minutes. (Make sure fudge is warm, smooth and shiny–warm enough that it won’t set up instantly when you stir in the cooler nuts and raisins). Stir in nuts and raisins.

Scoop the fudge into the cake pan all around the plastic-covered can in the center to form a wreath or ring shape. Let it be all bumpy on top. If the fudge moves the can off center, move it back in place.

Cut the red cherries in half with scissors and the green cherries into quarters. Use the green pieces to make leaves and the red to make holly berries. Decorate the fudge with several groups of holly berry sprigs made from the cherries and garnish with walnuts between the sprigs.

Put the fudge in the refrigerator and chill until firm (about a half hour). Remove the can from the center, then loosen the sides and bottom of the fudge with a spatula. Cut the fudge into thin slices to serve.
