I am originally from Cortland and love the apples…..they are wonderful for baking, very white and tart….I love eating them too because of the tartness. I am sure a McIntosh would work or even Granny Smith….all good apples. Just a nice flavored dessert with the light Angel Food Cake.
Wonderful! I only used 2 Tbsp sugar on the top of the cake, but it is so easy, and so low in cals for such a yummy treat!
Yeah…the recipe I got did not say how much sugar or cinnamon so I just guessed…found that it was TOO much sugar and cinnamon. Next time I will cut back! (going to make the change in the recipe with how you did it. Will probably do 2 T sugar and 2 TEAsp of cinnamon) It was SO good and SOOO easy!
I’ve anxious to try the apple version! I’ve made a pineapple dump cake with the angel food cake mix and a 16 oz. can of crushed pineapple with the juice. It comes out fluffy and so moist and delicious. It’s a great diabetic recipe as well.
I made this today and it was a hit. I added a bit of the cinnamon and sugar with the apple filling because it seemed a bit bland. It came out great! Thanks for a super easy recipe!!!!
How great is this recipe. Very simple and looks so good. I love that it has angel food cake, that way it is nice and light. Then add some extra topping right
This is a super easy recipe also we modify it to use in the Dutch oven by adding a can of Mt Dew or Ski. If I make the normal recipe I will put extra butter in and I also stir it about ten minutes before I take it out just to make sure there are no dry spots.
This is a great recipe for a quick desert. I made it yesterday with my home-canned apple pie filling. It was a hit with my fellow foodies at our monthly get together. Next time I might try a different flavor of cake mix. Many possibilities…lemon cake with Blueberry pie filling? Hmmmm
INGREDIENTS:
