AMBROSIA/MARSHMALLOW FRUIT SALAD

The heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla combined are the ingredients to make a homemade version of Cool Whip. If you’re using a tub of Cool Whip, you would simply leave out the first two steps of mixing those three ingredients and just start at the part after it says to mix until you get a Cool Whip consistency!!

I have never made this with whipping cream. Made this for my granddaughters first birthday party, and what a hit it was. Thank you for your advice of the homemade whipping cream, so much better.

There was a salad similar to this at the old King’s Table Buffet and I got it every time I went. Their’s had rice as a base and possibly fruit cocktail, along with coconut, mini marshmallows and Cool Whip. I think I’m going to try your recipe and doctor it to come up with a version of their’s (being as I can’t find a recipe anywhere!).

My Grandma used to make this for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would freeze it in a bundt cake pan and turn it out to serve with the main meal. It was my favorite!

I made this wonderful recipe for Thanksgiving! Our son who is a Master Chef loved it. My husband is hooked on this Ambrosia Since Thanksgiving I have made this at least every week.

I make this, but I use sliced grapes instead of cherries. I will have to try it!!!
I made this recipe for our Christmas celebration, you were right about the marshmallows being something that the kids love! My granddaughter remembered it and requested it for Easter, so now my daughter is preparing it for this holiday occasion! I suggested to her the idea of using the pastel mini marshmallows for Easter!

This looks super tasty! I love a good ambrosia salad! Something about the fruit and marshmallows is so nostalgic!

Years ago we were at a party put on by a good friend who bordered on OCD with party foods. The watermelon basket was gorgeous but the dip was divine!! A large container of Cool Whip, thawed, and 2-3 Tbsp. of spiced rum, mixed well. White rum is equally good. Adding toasted chopped pecans or slivered almonds add texture and extra flavor.

You need to put the fruit and all the juices over the mini marshmallows. Then put that in the refrigerator for 24 hours. The salad is called 24 hour salad. Take that out of the refrigerator and fold in the whipped cream. Return to the refrigerator for a chill. Serve.

I loved this recipe growing up but have struggled to find a great recipe since I lost ours. I stumbled upon this one and it is a keeper for sure! Will be making regularly at holiday parties.

This brings back great childhood memories! Liking this updated version with yougart
