Chili Cheese Dog Bake.

Tasted delicious but I recommend baking the dogs and dough in a pan and once they are cooked adding the chili with them in the oven to heat up all together

UPDATE*** As the submitter of this recipe I would suggest to those of you worried about over browning bottoms, to use two cookie sheets together to bake on. My baking sheets are a heavy gauge metal and I also use a silpat on top of that so mine bake up just right. However, if you have a thin sheet, doubling up will help insulate the bottom and prevent over browning issues. Parchment paper will keep dough from sticking but I do suggest a good spray with PAM prior to use.*** These are easy and fun.

My kid love ’em! We have made different kinds…. Turkey, beef, sausage, cheese….kids like the cheese dogs best! These never last long so I make a double batch and individually freeze the second batch for a special lunch treat! When I freeze for lunches I leave the salt off as it causes the bread to “sweat” while defrosting. The dough is also wonderful for regular pretzel or bite size pretzels. I highly recommend the recipe “Clone of a Pretzel Dip” from this site to accompany the pretzel bites!

. It was fairly easy to make – a bit detailed, but well worth the effort. Everyone liked them – my 5 year old ate 3! I can’t wait to make them again

What a great idea! My family really enjoyed this. The pretzel dough is perfect. Very easy to but together. The only beer I had in the house was a Guinness so I used that. Will be making these again soon.

My family LOVES these!! We’ve made them many different ways and they’re all good! The pretzel around the dogs comes out great every time. I don’t use a bread maker, so I knead for 10 minutes and let rise for 90. Wonderful portability too! We toss them in a bag and bring along some salad and chips for a picnic at the park. Definitely a keeper!

These were super easy and fun to make. I’m not a hotdog fan, (so I’ll adjust rating if hubby goes nuts) so I wasn’t completely blown away by taste … but presentation wise, they’re adorable. I made a half recipe and had enough dough to do 10 hotdogs and 6 medium sized pretzels. Made in KA with no problems – lovely dough to work with. *DO* use parchment paper – I was leary after reading others had problems and made half on paper, half on well oiled sheet (baking at 425) and after drying them off a bit after removing from bath. Ones with paper were fine …. ones without stuck terribly. Thanks so much for recipe.

I made twice as much because my family usually eats twice as much as we should, but I had to cook it way longer than expected because the pizza dough was still doughy. But when it was done it tasted great! Love this dish.

My husband and I made these for New Years Eve. Oh my stars, they were unbelievable! I am not a cook and watched the video consistently until I felt I could try it. The flavor was amazing. The pretzel dough turned out amazing. I am giving this recipe five stars.

These are awesome! I do not own a bread machine, nor do I wish to 😉 I used a mixer and let the dough rise on its own. Also I only did 6 dogs, so I made pretzels with the extra dough- cooked them right beside the dogs!! For those who do not have a bread machine this is how I did it… I combined the beer (or use equal amount of warm water in place of the beer), sugar, salt & yeast. Stir and allow it to sit for 4-5 minutes. Once the mixture has risen slightly, put flour in the bowl of the mixer, add the yeast slurry, melted butter & using the dough attachment/hook kneed on low speed just until the dough comes together. Increase the speed to medium and kneed until dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl (about 4-5 minutes). Remove the dough from the bowl, spray it with non stick spray or rub with oil, then return the dough back into the bowl and cover with a tea towel. Let rise for 1 hour in a draft free, warm place, or until doubled in size. Now you are ready to roll out the dough and cut into strips.

The dough was great to work with! I was a little intimidated, but it wasn’t so bad! I made the dough and wrapped the dogs a day in advance, then baked them the next day. Will definitely make these again!!

INGREDIENTS:

4 HOT DOGS
4 STRING CHEESE (CHEDDAR)
1 CAN PILLSBURY PIZZA DOUGH
1 CAN CHILI (15 OZ.)
1/4 CUP BUTTER, MELTED
1 TEASPOON GARLIC POWER
1 TEASPOON FRESH PARSLEY

INSTRUCTIONS:

REMOVE THE CHEESE FROM THE WRAPPERS AND CUT IN HALF LENGTHWISE. SET ASIDE.
OPEN THE CAN OF PIZZA DOUGH AND ROLL OUT. CUT THE DOUGH INTO 4 EQUAL SECTIONS.
TAKE A WIENER AND SANDWICH IT WITH THE TWO SIDES OF CHEDDAR. BEGINNING AT ONE END OF THE STRIP OF DOUGH, BEGIN TO WRAP THE BUNDLE INTO THE DOUGH, COVERING THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE WIENER WITH THE
DOUGH.
PLACE IN THE PAN WITH THE CHILI, SEAM SIDE DOWN.

WHEN ALL FOUR ARE COMPLETE, BAKE IN THE OVEN FOR 20-25 MINUTES OR UNTIL THE DOUGH IS COOKED AND GOLDEN BROWN ON TOP.
8. MIX THE GARLIC AND PARSLEY WITH THE MELTED BUTTER AND BRUSH THE TOPS OF THE HOT DOGS WITH THE GARLIC BUTTER.
ENJOY!
TO AVOID DOUGHY BOTTOM- JUST PLACE THE DOGS IN FIRST THEN POUR CHILI AROUND THEM.
