Marshmallows
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Vegetable oil, for frying
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Chocolate syrup or caramel sauce, for drizzling (optional)
Directions:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil until well combined.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
Skewer each marshmallow with a wooden stick or toothpick.
Dip each marshmallow into the batter, coating it evenly.
Carefully place the coated marshmallows into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the fried marshmallows from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate syrup or caramel sauce, if desired.
