If you’re using a chocolate cake mix that calls for water, try adding steaming hot water rather than room temperature water to make the chocolate even more rich and fudge-y. Mmmmm!

No matter what type of mix you’re using, always add two extra egg yolks (on top of what the recipe calls for) to make that cake all the more fluffy.

For added flavor, swap the vegetable oil for melted butter. Butter makes everything better.

Instead of shaving some of the cake off of the top of a layer to get a flat, smooth surface, try sprinkling sugar on to the batter right before you pop it in the oven to prevent over-rising. That way, there’s no wasted cake!
