Incredible Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole

I’m always down for a cheeseburger. When we thought up a way to turn the dish into a delicious Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole, I was hooked!

TOP Reviews:

I love this dish! Meat was flavorful and tater tots were crispy. A tad on the salty side, so I caution seasoning with additional salt.

So good! We took other reviewer’s advice to put the tomatoes, dill pickle slices and raw onions on the side to add on as desired and could not have loved it more:)

As you would imagine the guys all really liked this recipe. I like someone’s idea of serving it on shredded lettuce and putting tomatoes/pickles on the side (but don’t NOT add them–it will ruin the whole effect). I I added salt and pepper. I wonder if those seasoned tater tots would work well? Good recipe for an evening when you are feeding a bunch of guys and want something easy.

We really enjoyed this, I wasn’t sure if it would really taste like cheeseburgers but it did. I have a lot of particular people in my house and all but one liked this. I did add some garlic salt to the bottom layer and sprinkled season salt on the potatoes, I even added the pickles and it was great.

This popped up this a.m. and remiinded me of how long it’s been since I’d fixed this quick & delicious casserole. Versatile…turkey, beef, lamb meats, tomato or cream based soups work, add a layer of grean beans, carrots or corn and you have a complete meal. Vary the spices & it’s a new casserole each time you make it. Thanks barryzimm for bringing back one of our faves.

Pretty tasty stuff. I did my own thing with it though. While browning the beef I seasoned it with onion powder, garlic powder, freshly ground black pepper, and a smidge of salt. I chopped up one small onion, and after draining the beef I mixed the beef, cream of mushroom soup, and chopped onions together and let them simmer a bit. Then poured the mixture into a 10×10 casserole dish. I added sharp cheddar. Then put the tots on, then added triple cheddar shredded cheese on top of the tots. My family loved it including my 2 year old who typically doesn’t eat beef!

This yummy casserole makes for a great dinner that the whole family will enjoy, and the sky’s the limit when it comes to toppings you can add after! We added pickles after baking, but you can add tomatoes, lettuce, or anything else your heart desires. This recipe is made with foods you most likely already have at home, so what are you waiting for – get cookin’!
