One of the key ingredients in this recipe is dark chocolate. Swiss chocolate is known for its high quality and rich flavor, and this cake is no exception. The dark chocolate used in this recipe is typically 70% cocoa or higher, which gives the cake its intense chocolate flavor. In addition to the chocolate, butter is also a main ingredient, providing the cake with a rich, buttery texture.
To make the Swiss chocolate cake, you’ll need a few basic ingredients, including eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and instant coffee granules. While the recipe may seem simple, the combination of these ingredients creates a delicious and complex flavor profile.
To begin, the dark chocolate is melted and then set aside to cool slightly. Meanwhile, the butter and sugar are creamed together until light and fluffy. The eggs are then added one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. The dry ingredients, including the flour, baking powder and salt, are sifted together and added to the butter mixture. Next, the dissolved coffee granules and milk are added, followed by the melted chocolate. Once everything is mixed together, the batter is poured into a greased cake tin and baked for approximately 35-40 minutes.
Once the cake is finished baking, it’s important to allow it to cool before removing it from the tin. This helps prevent the cake from falling apart or sticking to the pan. Once it’s cooled, the cake can be decorated with a variety of toppings, including whipped cream, chocolate ganache, fresh berries, or anything else your heart desires.
