Turkish Flat Bread Recipe


  • Flour: Approximately 8 1/2 cups
  • Warm Water: Approximately 1.7 cups
  • Yogurt: Approximately 1.7 cups
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Dry Instant Yeast: 2 teaspoons (approximately 0.35 ounces)
  • Butter: Approximately 4.2 tablespoons


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add yogurt and water to the mixture.
  3. Incorporate vegetable oil into the dough until it forms a smooth consistency.
  4. Coat the dough with a touch of oil, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size.
  5. Grease your hands with oil and shape the dough.
  6. Divide the dough into eight portions and allow the dough balls to rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Roll each dough ball into a circular shape.
  8. Pan-fry the flat bread over medium heat.
  9. Flip the flat bread until thoroughly cooked.
  10. Apply a light coat of butter, stack them on a plate, and cover them with a tea towel until you’re ready to serve.
