Ingredients for Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers:

1 head of green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup tomato sauce (or ketchup)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, Monterey Jack), divided
1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
1 teaspoon grated garlic
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1/2 cup chopped parsley

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Arrange cabbage slices on a rimmed sheet pan, brush with oil, and season with salt and pepper.

Roast cabbage slices in the oven for 10 minutes to precook.

In a large bowl, combine lean ground beef with garlic, green onion, parsley, red chili pepper flakes, half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Form mixture into four beef patties.

Remove cabbage from the oven, spread a tablespoon of tomato sauce on top, add a sprinkle of shredded cheese, then top with a beef pattie. Finish with another layer of shredded cheese.
