Is there anything more classic than a banana split? We think not! Imagine all the deliciousness of a banana split – bananas, cherries, nuts, and all your favorite fixings – transformed into a fun, easy-to-make dessert. Introducing Banana Split Fluff Salad!

This dish is a nostalgic nod to the jello-encased “salads” of the 1950s, perfect for parties and gatherings. It combines the flavors of a banana split with the creamy, fluffy texture of ambrosia salad, plus some extra marshmallows for good measure!

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (3 oz) box instant banana pudding
  • 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, with juices
  • 1 (8 oz) frozen whipped topping
  • 1/4-1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped, plus extra for garnish
  • 2 (10 oz) jars maraschino cherries, halved
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Preparation:

  1. Mix sliced bananas with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the pudding mix with crushed pineapple (including juices) until thickened.
  3. Fold in the frozen whipped topping, then mix in marshmallows, nuts, bananas, chocolate chips, and maraschino cherries.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Serve chilled.
