Chocolate Tacos Recipe

Ingredients

For the Taco Shells:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ice cream (flavor of your choice)
  • Optional: Chopped nuts, sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips

For the Chocolate Coating:

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the Taco Shell Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy. Add the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk, and mix until combined.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  3. Bake the Taco Shells:
    • Spoon a small amount of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it into a thin circle (about 4-5 inches in diameter). Repeat to make several circles, leaving space between each.
    • Bake for 6-8 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  4. Shape the Taco Shells:
    • While the shells are still warm and pliable, carefully lift them off the baking sheet using a spatula. Drape them over the handle of a wooden spoon or another rounded object to form the taco shape. Let them cool and harden in this shape.
  5. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fill the Taco Shells:
    • Once the shells are completely cooled, fill each taco shell with a scoop of ice cream. Pipe or spoon the whipped cream over the ice cream. Add any optional toppings like chopped nuts, sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips.
  7. Prepare the Chocolate Coating:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and vegetable oil in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  8. Dip the Tacos:
    • Dip the tops of each filled taco into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the dipped tacos on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Let the Chocolate Set:
    • Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving. You can place the tacos in the refrigerator to speed up this process.

Enjoy your delicious chocolate tacos! They’re perfect for a fun dessert or a special treat.
