I’ve made this recipe twice now and really like it.It’s easy to prepare and tasty. The second time I didn’t have tomato paste and used a small can of crushes tomatoes instead and it came out fine. I also substituted a bag of mixed vegetables for the green beans

Like the recipe, but changed it to match what needed used up. My family like it but not with great enthusiasm. I sauteed an onion, garlic, and mushrooms which were sliced. Moved to baking dish. Browned one pound of ground beef, drained and and moved to baking dish along with a half a small jar of salsa, tomato paste, and filled the salsa jar with water and added that too. Seasoned with basic stuff, and sprinkled cheddar cheese. Put a layer of tatter tots and sprinkled more cheese on top of the tots. Baked for 40 minutes at 350. Would make it again cause I really like it. Would use and full can of salsa and enough water to get the last of the salsa out of the jar

This was a nice and easy weeknight meal. The kids loved it and so did the grown ups! The recipe as-is would feed a family of 4 with no leftovers. Next time I will double it so we can have larger portions

My family loved this recipe. Will be making this again. Thanks for sharing. So easy! The only addition was a little bit of ketchup on the top

Good, but nothing of nutritional value in it. We ate fruit on the side, but the sloppy tots were pretty filling on their own.

Made this last night and my entire family loved it! Easy to prepare, and very filling. I made two changes: I added 1 cup of cheese (in addition to the cup that goes on top of the tater tots in last 10 minutes of baking time) to the beef mixture just before putting it into the pan to bake, and I baked it on 375 (so that I could bake it at the same time I baked “Cracked Pepper Cheddar Muffins” – another Taste of Home recipe that can be found on this site). Other than that, I made this exactly as directed. Everyone in my family loved the savory flavor, hearty texture, and overall look of it. The tater tots were nice and crispy, and the green beans were fully cooked without being “mushy” or making the casserole watery. I love it that you don’t have to thaw the green beans beforehand. Thank you , Taste of Home, for this great family casserole recipe!! HELPFUL TIP: I found that the 3-1/2 c. frozen cut green beans equals 1 16-oz bag, and the 6 cups of frozen tater tots equals 1 32-oz bag. Also – this can be made using potato “crowns” (similar to tater tots, but flatter) in lieu of tater tots.
