GREAT NORTHERN BEANS IN THE CROCKPOT

Flip it!

The Great Northern Beans in a Slow Cooker is one of my favorites. It’s easy to prepare, and still very tasty.

I love coming home to the smell of cooking dinner and knowing that I can enjoy a delicious meal in a few hours.

This great recipe for northern beans in the slow cooker is very simple. Simply place the beans in a slow cooker with water or broth and then let them cook for a few hours. You can add whatever spices you want – I usually add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

But you can add as many as you want – it’s really customizable.

Once the beans are cooked, you can serve them any way you like. I usually like to eat them as a side dish, but they are also excellent as a main dish. It is also very healthy – it is full of protein and fiber.

Ingredients

Half a cup of brown sugar
1 onion (chopped)
1 pound of smoked beef
1 pound of northern beans
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Pour beans to bottom of slow cooker.
Adding onions, beef plantains & brown sugar on top.
Covering beans with about 2 inches water.
Cook on high heat for two hours.
Reduce heat to low & let it cooking for an additional 4-5 hours.
Removing beef from slow cooker. Mince meat and return beef to slow cooker along with beans. Stir and serving with salt and pepper to taste.

Enjoy !
