In the late 60’s my mother scored on the recipe for pizza burgers from my elementary school. It is very similar to this recipe but has sage in lieu of the garlic. I’ve been making it for years for my kids and now my grandchildren. They beg for it. I have made it with bologna, hot dogs, or Spam. Spam seems to be the preferred luncheon meat.

Excellent! I got this from the great lunch ladies at my elementary school in the ’80s. I use bologna in mine. I hear tell you can use hot dogs, too! Loved by children everywhere. Great birthday party food for little kids.

I used to eat these all the time when I was in grade school in the 1950s, and loved them. Thanks for the recipe. I can’t wait to make a batch again!
