White Puppy Chow

Flip it!

This is a variation of a cake batter puppy chow mix. I like to bring this to gatherings because it is too addictive to keep at home! I like to use Crispix® for the shape, but you can use rice or corn Chex®. Store this in a sealed zipper bag or plastic container.

This is an awesome recipe! Easy to make and a real crowd pleaser. Karen is correct…very addicting!

Oh so good! I melted the almond bark in a double boiler and did not add the shortening and it turned out great.

Mine turned out great. It is sweet but if it’s too sweet just leave off the powdered sugar. I used mine with nuts, pretzels and red and green M&M’s for Occasions.

I made this for a girls weekend- it’s VERY sweet but delicious and addicting! Everyone loved it and couldn’t stop eating it! I used vanilla Chex, but didn’t realize they are sweetened, so next time I’ll use regular. Also- I used white vanilla Wiltons baking melts instead of the white chocolate and shortening, since it has the same texture and sets at room temperature, you just have to be sure to mix it quickly. I plan to make this again at Christmas with red and green funfetti mix/sprinkles!

Ingredients

5 ounces vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark), chopped
2 tablespoons shortening
5 cups crispy corn and rice cereal (such as Crispix(R))
1 1/2 cups white cake mix with colored sprinkles
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons colored sprinkles, or more to taste

Directions

Combine vanilla almond bark and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in microwave stirring every 30 seconds until mixture is smooth, about 90 seconds total.
Place corn and rice cereal in a large bowl. Slowly pour the almond bark mixture over the cereal, stirring often to completely coat. Add cake mix and confectioners’ sugar to cereal mixture; toss to coat. Shake sprinkles over the puppy chow.
