Recipe: Cream Cheese Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter until well combined. Press mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract, sour cream, flour, and salt until smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour cream cheese mixture over the crust in the pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is almost set.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan on a wire rack. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.
  7. Serve slices of the cream cheese cake plain or with your favorite topping, such as fresh berries or whipped cream.

Tips & Variations:

  • For a twist, add a tablespoon of lemon juice or zest to the cream cheese mixture for a refreshing flavor.
  • Experiment with different crusts by using crushed cookies or nuts instead of graham crackers.
  • Top the cake with a fruit compote or caramel sauce for an extra decadent treat.
  • Customize the cake by adding chocolate chips or swirls of fruit preserves to the batter before baking.
  • Serve the cake chilled for the best texture and flavor.
