Grandmas Brownies

Flip it!

These brownies are just like my grandma used to make, crisp on top, soft and sugary on the inside!

Moist and wonderful chocolate brownies. These are perfect right out of the oven!

What is a recipe? It’s a list of ingredients and steps leading to something delicous. But when that recipe is three (3) generations old, it’s more than ingredients; it’s love. That’s what these brownies are — they’re my Grandma Adelaide’s recipe. She made these for my mother and aunt, and my mother made them for my father, sister and I. I’ve taken her original recipe and have made them with my grandma’s love in my heart… and realized a few things along the way…

Today, we read recipes as blueprints. Each step is specific and direct, i.e. use large eggs, room temperature butter. I’m a good baker, and know how to read a recipe. However, this one is at least 60+years old and while doing my mise en place it dawned on me something was missing.
